Shakhtar Donetsk star player Fred has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in recent times after emerging as a target for a handful of top clubs across Europe including Arsenal and  Manchester United.

But according to new reports circulating in the media about him, Manchester City are determined to get his signature and manager Pep Guardiola has sanctioned a £45million move for him.

The Manchester Evening News made it known that the sky blue club have informed Shakhtar Donetsk that they will pay £45m to bring the midfielder down to the Etihad Stadium this month.

However, it was also added that the Ukrainian club have rejected the offer from the premier league champions, as they believe they can make lots of money from a player who has attracted attention from various big clubs in Europe.
