Arsenal are set to battle Manchester United and Tottenham for the signature of Lille midfielder Sofiane Boufal, according to reports.

Sofiane, 22, is currently having a superb season in the French League with Lille and has attracted the interest of England’s top clubs.

According to football insider via the Daily Star, Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United had scouts present in Lille’s game against Paris Saint Germain and it is believed that the English club’s were running the rule over the midfielder.

However, it appears that Mauricio’s Pochettino’s Tottenham are leading the race to sign the midfielder. This is according to French website Foot Mercato via the Daily Express which claims Spurs have offered the midfielder a five year deal and are in advanced talks with the player’s club.

It is believed that the player is excited to move to White Hart Lane as the midfielder is interested in playing Champions League football.

But Tottenham won’t find it easy as Jose Mourinho who is expected to take over at Manchester United as earmarked Sofiane as a potential summer target while Wenger who is interested in signing a quality playmaker to compliment Ozil and Sanchez is also monitoring Sofiane.

Sofiane joined Lille for £3m in 2015 but his performances for the French side has seen his value rise geometrically as he is now valued at £23m.

Lille are already resigned to losing their playmaker as the French club’s chief Michel Seydoux recently admitted it will be difficult to keep the midfielder beyond the current campaign.

“Keeping Boufal this summer? It’s virtually impossible.

“Of course it’s sad, but the gap between ourselves and England is growing very quickly.

“It dictates that we can’t keep him.”
