The drapes covering the January tranfer window are on the verge of being pulled aside and we can already feel the sprinkles of the winters chilling breeze.
All the focus today is undoutedly about the Champions League game against Anderlecht tomorrow, but the rumours and links to potential signings continue are bound to continue even during match times.
And while the ambience in and around the Emirates is of nothing but excitement and continued amazement at how lucky we are to have a certain Chilean in our team, there’s been good buzz in the rumour mill about our chances of making significant reinforcements in key areas of our team come January, from the most inevitable in defence, to welcome supplements in attack.
Fabian Schar Boost.
The 22-year old Swiss defender has been linked with a move away from Basel after being one of the most exciting talents from Switzerland over the past seasons. With Arsenal mentioned amongst several top clubs looking to snap up the efficient right back, he has come out to express his desire to venture for greener pastures.
“Basel are open to negotiations, but at this moment I have decided that I want to concentrate on my performances.” Schar said, while speaking to Swiss tabloid Blick
“I went through a difficult period and it wasn’t the right time to discuss my renewal. I don’t want to be worrying about that now.”
“My dream remains to have an experience abroad. I’ve always said that if the opportunity presented itself, I would take it, obviously in agreement with Basel.”
Schar also stated his preference for either the German League or top Premier League team
“I need a team with important prospects. I’d like the Bundesliga, Premier League or top Italian clubs like Inter, Milan and Juventus. I couldn’t say no.”
“I want to hear all my options and consider them carefully. There was some contact in the summer, but nothing serious.”
Schar is valued at £10 million but a January move could prove difficult with Basel’s involvement in the Champions League this season.
United Enter Race For Draxler.
The Schalke 04 youngster has been tracked by Wenger for well over a year now and Wenger targeting defensive additions in January, reports have it that Louis van Gaal is looking to take advantage of the relaxed pursuit from the Gunners, preparing to tempt the Gelsenkirchen club with a sizeable offer for the £35 million man. Draxler is one of Europe’s best talents at the moment, and with a World Cup medal at just 21, he is sure to attract a bidding war whenever Schalke are set to start listening to serious offers.
Cavani Gives Arsenal Hopes.
Per the Express, Edinson Cavani has admitted that there could be a possibility that he moves away from the Parc des Princes in the near future. The PSG striker has been linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal, stating that football’s unpredictable climate means anything could happen with regards to who he plays for soon.
“In football we never know what is going to happen the next season, or the next day.” Cavani said.
However, The 27-year old, believed to be unhappy at been deployed out of position by Laurent Blanc to suit Zlatan Ibrahimovich, also moved to quash any such rumours by describing himself as having a cold face by default.
“I have never been a very smiley player on the pitch so you can think that I am not happy maybe. ‘Cavani is not happy because he is playing at a different position.'”
“Each person has their own view, but to talk about me being sad or other problems, it has never been the case.”
Perhaps El Matador, rather than declaring loyalty to PSG, is asking us all to find out the real reason why he wants to leave PSG?
