Arsenal have made a concrete bid for Club Brugge defender Bjorn Engels, according to the player’s agent.
Arsenal were linked with a move for a centre back in July but nothing concrete materialized but all that could change after Gabriel joined Valencia on Friday.
The Brazilian’s exit coupled with the impending exit of Calum Chambers could leave a void, which Wenger may have to address before the transfer window closes.
Engels has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and it appears the club hold a strong interest in the 22 year old.
The defender’s agent when speaking about interest in his client revealed Arsenal have made a concrete offer for the defender.
“I see him more in the Premier League, he’s a player I would definitely invest in, because he still has a relatively affordable figure, about €10m. I wouldn’t think twice,” Reggiani told Calciomercato, as quoted by the Daily Cannon.
“The only problem, as I know, is that both Arsenal and Tottenham have already made concrete offers. I think at the moment with Sampdoria there is no history for the player.”
It wasn’t stated if the offer was made recently or not but it is believed that the Emirates is one of his potential destinations if he is to move to the Premier League.
Engels has made 79 league appearances for Club Brugge since making his debut in 2012 and could be thinking it is the right time to make the next step in his career.
