Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil contracts renewal could cost Arsenal a whole lot more than was originally budgeted, according to reports.
The duo have been in talks with our club over a contract extension since last season but have been unable to reach an agreement.
Negotiations were placed on hold during the summer break to enable them focus on international duties and talks will now resume after this international break.
Reports claim we are prepared to make both players the highest paid in the team with a salary increase to about £180,000 a week to enable them sign new contracts.
Sports magazine The Times are now claiming the players would demand a salary package of £250,000 a week each, which would amount to a £36m more than what was budgeted for the both of them.
The duo are important players of the squad and Wenger has made keeping them his priority. They are already into the penultimate year of their contract and will have just one year left next summer, which will put us in a tight position.
Other clubs are reportedly keeping tabs on them ahead of a possible move next summer but a new contract at Arsenal will put an end to speculations linking them away.
We are quite confident that they will sign a new deal but whether their demands will be met is something i’m not sure of.
With the influx of money in the Premier League, we have enough funds to conveniently renew both players deal but if The Times claims are true, we have a big decision to make.
