Alexis Sanchez future at Arsenal is in doubt, according to reports.
The Chile international is in the penultimate year of his contract at the club and is yet to agree an extension to his current contract.
The club has been in discussion with the player over a new contract since the end of last season but has not made much progress.
According to The Mirror via Football Insider, Sanchez is stalling on signing a new contract and his future is now in doubt as a result.
Sanchez wants a big pay rise in his new contract and also the inclusion of a release clause before he will put pen to paper.
The club is in talks with Sanchez and Ozil, while they are confident of renewing the German’s contract, the Chilean’s situation is far from certain.
It is believed the arrival of Shkodran Mustafi has convinced Ozil to stay at the club.
In the summer, reports claimed Sanchez was unhappy at the Emirates and was heavily linked with a move to Juventus but Arsenal turned down the Italian giant’s approach to sign him.
His demand for a pay rise is understandable as there are players of his calibre at other clubs earning around what he is demanding.
However his wish to include a buy back clause in his contract means he is not prepared to stay at the Emirates for a long time. A release clause will definitely render Arsenal powerless to stop the forward from leaving should it be activated and it is not a good idea to include it in his contract.
