Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal’s French right full back; Mathieu Debuchy is set to leave the Gunners in the January transfer window in a bid to be in the squad when France hosts the European championship this year.
Debuchy has lost his place in the Arsenal first team since he sustained a long injury lay off that has seen Hector Bellerin blossom in his absence and its now hard for Debuchy to reclaim the position he held prior to his injury.
Debuchy has indicated his interest to quit the Emirates in the January transfer window and Italian outfit AS Roma are keenly interested in taking the experienced defender to Rome in January. But fresh claims indicate that Debuchy could be heading home to France in the transfer window as Olympique Lyon want to swoop for the 30 year old.
Debuchy joined the Gunners from Newcastle United for £10 Million after the experienced defender stayed with the Magpies for just 18 months, making 46 appearances for the St James Club. Debuchy has struggled to get back into the Arsenal first team squad since losing his spot due to long term injury.
It’s now a two way battle between Roma and Lyon for his service but they may both end up not signing Debuchy as it is still uncertain for Arsene Wenger to sanction his sales unless he has enough cover in case an injury occur to Bellerin.
Calum Chambers can play at the right back too so Wenger should let Debuchy go as he bids to win his way back into the French squad in what could be his last chance at national duties before he retires.
