There has been an update that Arsenal has agreed a fee for Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool target William Carvalho.
It was earlier reported that transfer talks were ongoing between Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon for the tough tackling midfielder.
But fresh reports according to Telegraph per the Express say that a fee has been agreed that would see Carvalho make the switch to the Premier League next season.
Carvalho has been keen on a move to England, prompting heavy pursuits from Premier League giants – Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United for his signature.
However, the reports claim Sporting have agreed a fee with Arsenal believed to be in the region of £21.5 million. A significantly reduced price to the £30 million earlier quoted by the Portuguese club.
This report will come as good news to many Arsenal fans who have been clamouring for Carvalho’s signature.
And although the rise to prominence of Francis Coquelin in the Arsenal holding midfield area has done a lot to calm the nerves of fans agitating for the need of a defensive midfielder, many sections of Arsenal supporters will still see the signing of Carvalho as a vital one.
Carvalho has made 38 appearances for Sporting so far this season and his signing is sure to add strength to the Arsenal midfield next term.
