Arsenal are set to miss out on Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.

The Gunners recently had a bid rejected for the France International and it was mooted in some corners that we could return with a new bid for the 20 year old but that hope seems to have been dashed after Barcelona joined the race to sign the winger.

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde just like Wenger, is a big admirer of Dembele and immediately stepped up his pursuit of the Dortmund man after he lost Neymar to PSG.

And according to the Metro via the Daily Cannon, Barca have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Dembele as they are ready to spend big on him to replace Neymar.

BVB have placed a €100m price tag on the talented winger but that isn’t expected to be a problem for the Spanish giants who got more than double that figure from Neymar’s sale.

With Barca reportedly willing to spend big, Dembele has now agreed terms with them and could be on his way to the Camp Nou in tbe next few days.

Arsenal are apparently in the market for a new winger and have been working on a deal to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco but the French club’s reluctance to lose their winger forced Wenger to consider signing Dembele.

However, Barca were always favorites to sign Dembele as the winger is a big fan of theirs. In an interview last year, the BVB man revealed his dream is to play for Barcelona and there is no way he would have turned down the Spanish club’s advances in favor of joining us.

Again the player’s valuation would have been a problem for Arsenal as it would have meant spending almost twice our club record transfer fee and knowing Wenger’s history in the transfer window, it was a move that was always unlikely to happen.
