Barcelona are preparing to make a bid for Jean-Michel Seri next week, according to reports in Spain.

The box to box midfielder is a target of Arsenal but Wenger is waiting for Nice to finish their Champions League playoffs before making a concrete move.

But, Barcelona are now set to provide serious competition for the midfielder’s signature. Sport via the Daily Cannon say the Catalan giants are in talks with Seri’s camp and are set to lodge their first bid next week.

It has been claimed that Barcelona first indicated their interest in the midfielder as far back as November. However, they stopped working on a deal for the Cote d’ivoire international to focus on Marco Verratti. Their move for the Italian was unsuccessful, which has forced them to renew their interest in Seri.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are keen on strengthening it’s midfield and Seri has been top of the club’s radar for a while but we may now have to battle the Spanish giants for his signature.

Suitors will have to activate the midfielder’s £36m release clause, which shouldn’t be a problem for Barcelona considering they just got almost £200m from Neymar’s sale. It shouldn’t be a problem for Arsenal also but whether we will be willing to enter into a bidding war with Barcelona remains to be seen.
