Arsenal have made some sort of progress in its attempt to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, according to reports.
Arsenal have been working on a deal to sign Lemar since the beginning of the transfer window but were told by Monaco that he isn’t for sale at any price.
Two bids worth £30m and £45m have already been rejected by the French club but that hasn’t deterred Wenger who is determined to sign the winger.
Wenger has now received a huge boost in his pursuit of the midfielder as the Express claim Monaco are now more receptive to selling.
However, Arsenal will have to stump up huge cash in order to tempt Monaco into selling.
The report claim Arsenal had hoped a £25m bid would be enough to sign the winger but we now face the prospect of paying more than twice the budget.
Monaco are demanding at least £55m for the midfielder, which means Arsenal will have to break it’s transfer record twice this summer.
It remains to be seen whether Wenger will be willing to pay that much for his top target.
I would urge the club to pay whatever Monaco wants because with the way the transfer window is going, we may have to pay almost twice the figure next summer.
