On loan Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has revealed his disappointment in Arsene Wenger over the manager’s role in his limited playing time at the Emirates, according to the Metro.
The defender who couldn’t get enough playing time at Arsenal this season moved to Bordeaux on the last day of the winter transfer window after a failed move to Aston Villa and Manchester United.
The French defender lost his place at Arsenal to Hector Bellerin who has been impressive since breaking into the Gunners first team.
Bellerin’s performances forced Debuchy to consider leaving the club for more playing time in order to make it to the European Championships that will be holding this summer in France.
The 30-year-old has now hit out at Arsene Wenger for failing to give him the amount of game time he was promised at the Beginning of the season.
Speaking to Canal+, Debuchy said:
“Yes, I’m a little bit annoyed with him. It’s his choice.”
“I came back well this summer, I had a good pre-season,” he added.
“I was able to talk to him to know my future at Arsenal. He said that I would have game time and that we would discuss it in December. Unfortunately, I didn’t have this game time.”
Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle in July 2014 for a fee of about £12m but made just two league appearances for the Gunners this term.
