West Ham have joined the race to sign Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports.
Last week, reports claimed that Debuchy was close to joining Turkish giants Galatasaray on a season long loan but it appears the move is in jeopardy as West Ham have moved ahead in the race to sign the defender.
Debuchy’s future has been up in the air since his return from his loan spell at Bordeaux after he fell out with Wenger over a failed promise from the boss of game time and he has attracted the interest of a number of clubs.
According to Turkish publication Fanatik via the Daily Star, West Ham have hijacked Galatasaray’s move for Debuchy.
Arsenal are prepared to let the defender leave the club but won’t sanction a deal until Wenger resolves his defensive crisis.
The Gunners have already lost Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to injury and it is believed Debuchy would be able to provide cover from the bench before the club resolves its crisis.
FC Bordeaux and Olympic Lyon are also interested in the 31 year old and will attempt to sign the defender should Arsenal be prepared to sanction a move.
Debuchy has struggled to break into Arsenal’s first team, making just twelve league appearances since he joined in 2014
