Mohamed Elneny has rejected a move to Leicester City, according to reports.
Elneny is currently with Arsenal squad for preseason in China but he is attracting interest from Leicester.
According to The Sun, Leicester City made a £10m bid for Elneny which Arsenal accepted but the player rejected the chance to join the former league champions.
Elneny has been a reliable squad player since he joined from Basel in January 2015 and is reportedly happy at Arsenal despite his status at the club.
Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a new centre midfielder and it is surprising that we would want to sell one of our current options when we aren’t close to bringing anyone in.
The Sun claims Arsenal are open to selling Elneny as we have several options in that position but I can say that isn’t entirely correct.
It is true that Arsenal have a lot of players who can play in centre midfield but how many of them manage to stay fit? Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are currently out injured leaving us with Granit Xhaka, Elneny, Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin, with the later duo having poor injury records.
I fully expect Elneny to remain an Arsenal player next season regardless of whether Wenger signs a midfielder or not.
