Arsenal are leading the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.
Premier league giants Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on the midfielder and according to the Sun, Arsenal are ahead of its London counterpart in the race to sign the midfielder.
Mkhitaryan has a year left on his contract at BVB and has so far rejected the club’s advances to sign a new deal with his agent claiming last week that the player is considering other options.
“Why would we sign a contract renewal now?” , Raiola said.
“Micki has a contract until June 2017 and we are looking at his options for the future.”
The report claims the midfielder who is currently earning about £30,000 a week is targeting a new salary package worth close to £85,000 a week.
BVB have already lost two key players and are determined to keep Mkhitaryan beyond the current campaign and the player is prepared to run down his contract at BVB then leave for free next summer should he not be sold this summer.
Tottenham and Juventus have also been linked with the 27 year old midfielder but the player is said to favour a move to the Emirates.
Mkhitaryan scored 23 goals in all competitions for BVB this season as he helped the club to second place on the Bundesliga table, securing a Champions League spot in the process.
