Liverpool Legend Jamie Redknapp has revealed the positions Arsenal need to strengthen to be title contenders next season.
The Sky pundit was reviewing the just concluded season where Arsenal managed to beat North London rivals Tottenham to second place on the log table.
The Gunners were favourites to win the League in the first half of the season but a 4-0 defeat to Southampton in December saw a downturn in the club’s fortunes.
In order to avoid those circumstances next season, Wenger has been urged to use the summer transfer window to strengthen the squad and Redknapp reckons Arsenal need to sign a centre half, a centre midfielder and a centre forward this summer in order to challenge for the title next season.
?I think they need a centre-half, a central midfielder and a centre-forward. But we say that every year,” Redknapp said, as quoted by Sport Review .
“If they can go and get a top-class striker, a midfielder player because they need someone who can do better than what they’ve got, and a centre-half to play alongside Koscielny, then we’ll be talking about Arsenal winning the title.
“If they don’t, it’ll be the same conversation next season.”
Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach’s centre midfielder Granit Xhaka while the French man has also revealed his intentions to sigh a centre forward following the injury to Danny Welbeck and the club has also been linked with a £20m move for Swansea defender Ashley Williams.
