Arsenal will face league leaders Manchester City for the first time this season in the Premier League on Sunday.

However, Arsene Wenger is optimistic his side will end Pep Guardiola’s unbeaten run this season revealing the Blue side of Manchester  are not capable of going unbeaten for the entire season.

Wenger, who oversaw an ‘invincible’ season with Arsenal in 2003/04, believes the pressure to stay unbeaten will get to Pep Guardiola’s side at some point.

“That’s normal,” said Wenger, about City being title favourites.

“Because at the moment they are on a good run and people extend always these good runs to the end of the season – but at some stage they have to be stopped.

“It’s true because nobody does that, run away.

“But we can still just focus on this game and try to give our best and prepare well, focus and give our best there.

“The most difficult, the pressure is really on when you don’t win.

“When you win, okay, you have a kind of pressure but the real pressure in our job is when you don’t win and you have absolutely to win.

“If tomorrow you are a manager and I give you the choice to sit on the bench of Crystal Palace or City, what would you say? So I think yes, it’s a pressure, but it’s a nice one.”

Guardiola’s side have won nine of their first ten Premier League matches, games with an average of a 3.5 goals per game and are five points clear from Manchester United.
