Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio, according to reports.

Asensio established himself as one of Spain’s most talented youngsters on loan at Espanyol and enjoyed a fairly good breakthrough season at Madrid last term.

Despite not being a regular at the Bernabeu, he has been able to catch the attention of top clubs with his talent and quality.

Arsenal and Liverpool are two clubs who hold serious interest in the forward and previous reports had suggested that both clubs are prepared to battle for the winger’s signature.

Spanish publication Diario Gol via The Express are claiming Arsenal have made a move to sign Asensio by contacting Real Madrid about signing the young playmaker.

Asensio is a very talented and versatile lad who can play anywhere behind the centre forward and Wenger who is a big fan of versatile players would be very happy to have him at the Emirates.

It is unlikely that the player would want to leave the Bernabeu after just one season but you never can tell. Wenger could just be able to make some promises to him that will make him consider his future.

We’ll also have to do a lot to convince Madrid to consider selling Asensio as he is highly rated by the Spanish club.

We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold.
