Wojciech Szczesny is close to joining Juventus on a permanent deal, according to reports.
The Polish shotstopper is one of the several Arsenal players whose contracts expire next year that is being linked with a move away from the Emirates.
He has spent the last two years on loan at AS Roma, establishing himself as one of Serie A’s finest goalkeeper. He was expected to return to the Emirates this summer but he is unwilling to do so to come sit on the bench as back up to Petr Cech.
Juventus have now made a move to sign him and Calciomercato via The Daily Cannon are claiming the deal could be completed in the coming days.
Juve sees Szczesny as the long term successor to Buffon and are keen to wrap up a deal for him this summer.
The Italian giants are willing to table an £8m bid which they believe would be enough to sign the goalkeeeper.
Arsenal were said to have demanded around £13m for Szczesny but are now willing to drop their price tag close to what Juventus are willing to pay.
Should a deal go through, Szczesny will spend next season as back up to Buffon which is exactly the same thing he said he wouldn’t do at Arsenal.
It’s surprising because the Poland international is considered an Arsenal man, having passed out from our academy and his decision to go sit on Juventus bench for one season rather than Arsenal’s is somewhat surprising.
