Arsenal are set for a massive exodus as Wenger continues to prepare his squad for next season.
Wenger has been working hard to bring in new signings to improve the team and so far, has succeeded in signing Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette. And there are expected to be more arrivals as he is reportedly working hard to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and/or Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
It is believed both players features prominently on Arsenal’s radar and The Telegraph reported a fortnight ago that Wenger wants the duo, alongside Lacazette to be the club’s front trio next season.
With Wenger stepping up efforts to sign Lemar and Mahrez, the club is also preparing to lose a number of first team players.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is attracting interest from Liverpool. The Reds have been monitoring the winger since January and with him stalling on signing a new contract, Klopp is expected swoop for his services in the next few weeks. Arsenal would have to let him leave so as not to lose him for nothing next summer.
Another player that could follow Chamberlain out of the exit door is Olivier Giroud. The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette has thrown the striker’s first team chances into further doubt and Everton, Marseille as well as West Ham are working hard to sign him.
David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny are both expected to leave the Emirates this summer. The former is being linked with a move to Fenerbahce while the latter is closing in on a switch to Juventus.
Forgotten men Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs are also expected to leave before the start of the season, after falling out of Wenger’s plans.
While Debuchy has no serious suitor yet, it is unlikely he will want to remain at Arsenal where he has played just once in the past two seasons while Gibbs is attracting interest from Newcastle United, Watford and Stoke City.
Another man who may be unable to escape Wenger’s axe is Theo Walcott. The winger fell out of the starting xi towards the end of last season and the arrival of Mahrez and Lemar will push him further down the pecking order which would likely lead to his exit.
Calum Chambers could also leave the club permanently after impressing on loan at Middlesbrough last season.
Lucas Perez should complete the list of stars who could leave the Emirates this summer as he continues to attract interest from Spain.
Wenger is determined to make the most of this transfer window and despite already breaking the club’s transfer record, he is just about to get busy.
