Arsenal are preparing an improved £35m bid for Olympic Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, according to the Daily Star.
The Gunners have already had a £29.5m bid rejected and are now looking to return with an improved offer.
Although the French club are holding out for a £40m fee, it is believed Wenger is readying a new £35m bid.
It is going to take a lot to convince Lyon to accept a fee £5m short of their asking price. Lyon’s president Jean Michel Aulas is already talking tough and has stated the player won’t be leaving the club.
“Arsenal have not come back…and they will not come back” adding: “No one will leave OL, except for Rachid Ghezzal if he has an offer, which I doubt.”
Arsenal are currently finding it difficult to sign a striker, Wenger has stated his desire to sign a centre forward this summer but says he would only sign for the right price.
The club were interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain but pulled out after Napoli refused to lower their £75m asking price. It is unknown if Wenger would do same with Lacazette should Lyon be unwilling to entertain offers below its valuation.
The club is in dire need of a centre forward. Dani Welbeck is currently out injured and Olivier Giroud is set to miss the start of the season, with the situation at the club, it wouldn’t b a crime if we meet Lyon’s demands.
