Marseille are interested in signing out of favour Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports.
Debuchy has only made two appearances since December 2015 and apparently doesn’t feature in Wenger’s plans.
The club has been trying to move him on since last season but injuries and wage demands have made it difficult for suitors to firm up their interest in his signature.
And it appears Arsenal will finally get to sell the defender this summer. According to France Football via the Daily Cannon, Marseille have identified Debuchy as a top target to strengthen their defense.
Arsenal are struggling to sell its unwanted players like Debuchy and aren’t likely to play hard-ball if Marseille step up their interest in the French defender.
Nice and Bordeaux have been linked with the defender in recent months but the player’s wage demands discouraged both clubs.
Marseille was recently taken over by rich investors and may not have any problem paying the defender what he wants. The French club are likely to be lucky this time around, after failing in their attempt to sign Olivier Giroud earlier in the summer.
Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle for around £8m in 2012 but immediately suffered an injury which cost him his place in the first team to Bellerin and has failed to recover since then.
