According to Daily Star, The last has not been heard of the rumours of Cavani’s unhappiness at PSG and it remains increasingly possible that he could leave sooner than later – news to the ears of every Arsenal fan.
As if the apparent shadowing role he plays for Zlatan Ibrahimovich has not seemed discomforting enough, the Uruguayan’s future has become more intensely speculated about due to the recent fines dished out to he and former Napoli teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi, and with several clubs trailing both players, it seems only a matter of time before they take the front door out.
Cavani arrived PSG from Napoli for a huge transfer fee, and was instantly expected to replicate the astonishing form which saw him checked on the list of the most dangerous forwards on the planet, at the time even more revered than fellow countryman Luis Suarez. He was supposed to be the partner to Ibrahimovich, two of whom will wreck quakes of cataclysmic proportions against all classes of opponents. But while Zlatan has continued to flourish, Cavani has failed to perform under the system which sees him drifted to another position with a more subdued portfolio.
Arsene Wenger has not failed to broadcast his wide admiration for the powerful Uruguayan, as the above quotes which were from an interview on French TV TF1 clearly show. It was Cavani who was touted as the player for whom Wenger would possibly go for in the past January window as a supplement to Olivier Giroud. Another transfer window has passed with nothing but admiration still the best we’ve heard since.
With the striker continually unsettled, Arsenal would surely afford him a way out, though he may have to battle it out with in-form Danny Welbeck. You’d want to believe a competition with Danny will suit Cavani more than one with the immovable Ibrahimovich. However, PSG are still involved in this season’s Champions League and they may be inclined to keep hold of him at the least to the end of the season to see if the £55m paid for him would eventually take them some distance in the competition.
It will be interesting to see how the matter of his cost will affect our chase. Wenger has already quashed any £62m rumour, suggesting he will not make such a splash on a player, no matter how much he likes him.
