`The Premier League’s top teams, including Arsenal, have been put on red hot alert over a possible availability of French midfield super star, Paul Pogba, following revelations by his agent, Mino Raiola, that he would take the right opportunity to leave Turin.
Despite the acrimony that surrounded his departure from Manchester United on a free transfer, Pogba has gone on to establish himself in the Serie A as one of the world’s most sought after midfielders and not just as one with a potential to grow but one who will fit right into nearly any team. Juve have absolutely claimed monopoly of the Scudetto for three consecutive seasons now and with Pogba continuing to conjure moments of brilliance like he did against Roma last Sunday, it is not hard to imagine him being part of a fourth one at the end of the season.
Perhaps Raiola suggest it could be the last, if his recent remarks are anything to go by.
“I know his talent, but when one moves to Italy so young you don’t expect them to establish themselves immediately.” Raoila said, as quoted by the Express.
“He’s grown rapidly, even I didn’t expect it”
“Will he stay in Italy? No, it will be up to them [Juventus], we have renewed his contract, we’re happy with Juventus, but when the time is right to leave, we’ll take the opportunity.”
“We’ll see, I don’t know when the right time will come”
The “right time” is not an unpopular phrase to be used amongst agents and players when seeking either moves or pay rises but Pogba’s case presents a peculiar scenario as he is well aware of some strong interest in him back in England where he first caught the eye, only that United won’t have full claim when the bidding war begins.
Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the 21-year old and has revealed that he did have intentions of speaking with him as at when it became obvious he’d leave Old Trafford.
The Arsenal boss can boast of a large crowd of midfielders in his current squad but seems to be in a precarious situation with his midfielders most of whom continue to show the appearance of not being able to stay away from injuries. Even as a strong balanced team owes much to consistency in midfield, Pogba surely stands out as one of the fittest box-to-box players in the game today, and it could be on his mind to make a real move to get him this time, after not being able in the past.
Juventus are desperate to keep hold of him as he forms a perfect combination with Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal and to lose him could be the first step in an exodus that could weaken the foundations of what they’ve rebuilt of their status after the fallouts of the Calciopoli scandal in 2006. But Raiola’s comments will give the hunters – especially the Gunners – hope of initiating set-up the shooting equipment.
