Arsenal have reportedly sparked Sevilla into action by targeting star man Steven Nzonzi.
Arsenal are in the midst of a summer of change with Unai Emery now in charge of first-team affairs following Arsene Wenger’s departure.
Emery is working in a continental system under Sven Mislintat and Raul Sanllehi, who are responsible for the club’s transfer activity.
Nzonzi has emerged as one of the men Arsenal are targeting as they look to add some steel to their midfield.
The latest reports from Spain suggest Sevilla may be expecting the Gunners to move for the 29-year-old soon.
According to AS, Sevilla have set their sights on a summer deal for Real Madrid ace Marcos Llorente.
And they are apparently even more likely to make a move for Llorente if anything happens with Nzonzi.
Llorente could be allowed to leave Real having struggled for minutes over the course of the 2018/19 campaign.
He is currently waiting on a decision from new Real coach Julen Lopetegui, with Real Betis also eyeing him up.
The fact Llorente is being targeted by Sevilla might just be a signal they are preparing for Nzonzi’s exit.
AS indicate Sevilla are well aware of Arsenal’s interest in Nzonzi, despite the fact they are yet to make it concrete.
