Arsenal defeated West Brom 1-0 in this year’s Boxing day fixture to keep up with league leaders Chelsea. It was the Gunners first win in three league games and it came as a big relief to many associated with the club.

While Gooners are still ruing the back to back defeats in the hands of Everton and Manchester City which have seen us dropped nine points behind Chelsea, Pulis still believe we are better placed to win the league title.

Pulis’ West Brom played both Chelsea and Arsenal in the December and the Baggies boss feels we have a better chance of winning the league title despite being nine points behind. He believes we have a stronger squad to challenge for the title throughout the course of the campaign unlike the Blues which do not boast quality squad depth like us.

“If you look at the players who were not playing and not in the team today, and then you look at Chelsea’s, I think Arsenal have definitely got the stronger squad,” Pulis said as quoted by the Mirror.

“So they have most probably got the staying power to see them through and it will be interesting to see what Chelsea do. I think Chelsea will spend. I don’t think your man will sit back on what he’s got, I think he will invest. So it will be an interesting window for the top four or five clubs.

Truthfully speaking, Arsenal had a number of first team regulars missing against West Brom. Santi Cazorla, Shkodran Mustafi and Theo Walcott didn’t feature against the Baggies.

Pulis comments strengthens the popular belief this season that we now have the best squad in recent seasons to challenge for the league title.

Although we currently sit fourth, nine points behind Chelsea, there is still a long way to go before the end of our season, so there is every chance we can win the league title. Hopefully, our squad depth will be able to see us through the crucial stages of the season.
