Arsenal are in talks with Aston Villa about the transfer of Carl Jenkinson, according to Football Insider.
Jenkinson could leave the Emirates in the new year as a host of clubs are interested in signing him.
However, it is Aston Villa who have made the first move to sign the defender and the Championship side have opened preliminary talks with Arsenal about a deal to take the player on loan until the end of the season.
The 24 year old is currently down Wenger’s pecking order and has been told that he is free to join another club until the end of the season so he can play regularly.
West Ham and Hull City are also rumored to be interested in the defender but it is unknown if both Premier League clubs will firm up their interest in the defender.
Jenkinson suffered a knee injury in January which ended his two year loan spell at West Ham prematurely and since his return from injury in September he has failed to convince Wenger to keep him at the Emirates.
Arsenal’s decision to let the defender leave the club on loan so he can play regularly is definitely the right decision but i’m not so sure if it is the right thing sending the player to a Championship club.
I’m convinced we can find a Premier League club willing to take the defender on loan and that would be of more benefits to him than joining Villa.
