Arsenal and Liverpool are leading the race to sign Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, according to reports.
Dembele has been in superb form for Celtic this season and his impressive form has attracted the attention of a host of big clubs.
But the Daily Star via the Metro claims it is Arsenal and Liverpool who are leading the race to sign the striker.
Last week, it was rumored that Klopp had identified the French U21 striker as the man to strengthen his squad and was preparing a January bid for the player.
Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the forward and even tried to sign him in the last transfer window but the player felt a move to Celtic was the best for his development.
It turned out to be the right decision and he has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific striker this season. His impressive form has placed him back on Arsenal’s radar and Wenger is reportedly keeping an eye on his development in view to making a bid in the future.
Dembele is now valued at over £20m, which means interested clubs will have to pay heavily for his services.
I do not think a January switch to Arsenal will be possible considering he just joined Celtic in the summer but a move at the end of the season will be inevitable if he continues to perform the way he is doing.
Also Wenger doesn’t look prepared to spend in the new year, as he looks to keep faith with his current squad until the end of the season at least.
Dembele has scored 17 goals in 30 games across all competitions this season.
