Arsenal are leading the race to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to reports.
The French man is a familiar name to the club as Wenger has reportedly tried to sign the striker in the last two summer transfer windows but Real Madrid were not willing to do any business regarding the striker.
Reports surfaced last week that Madrid are in negotiations with Lewandowski representatives concerning a summer move to the Bernabeu and that has placed Benzema’s future at the club in serious doubt.
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are the bookies favourites to sign Karim Benzema.
Arsenal sit at 13/2 to sign the striker while PSG and Manchester United are 7/1 and 13/1 respectively.
Despite the speculations surrounding his future, Benzema revealed on Saturday that he wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
He said: “I am happy here and I hope to be here for many years.
“I thank the people in Madrid for being there for me and my family.
“Thanks to everybody because they are part of my life and we are going to be used to winning titles.
“‘I am very proud of the team and I am glad because it is a very important title for everybody and I have to thank the supporters, the club’s president [Florentino Perez], the coach [Zinedine Zidane], the players and today we are in Madrid’s history.”
Benzema helped Madrid win their 11th Champions League trophy on Saturday and the French man will definitely bring a title winning mentality to the Emirates should Wenger somehow pull off the signing.
