Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s end of season collapse is down to a lack of mental strength.
Spurs were involved in a two-way title race with Leicester City late in the campaign but a sudden collapse during the final few games of the season has meant that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have finished in third place, behind North London rivals Arsenal once again.
While there are no trophies to be won by just finishing above Arsenal, Tottenham fans have been left very disappointed after falling behind their local enemies and now Gunners legend Henry has gone on to suggest that Spurs’ collapse over the past few games indicates a lack of mental toughness.
The Frenchman told Sky Sports: “We were all praising them at the beginning of the season, saying they were mentally strong and technically and physically great.
“But they showed in the last few games something that you have when you have a team of a lot of youngsters; sometimes you can be mentally weak. Hopefully they can learn from that and come back better next season.
“You need to concentrate on yourself, and see what you can achieve. Obviously for a long time they were chasing Leicester to be champions, now they’ve finished third, yet again behind Arsenal.
“It does matter in London, but the bigger picture is to be champions.”
It’s happened again!
