Reports from the Metro suggest Arsenal could finally make their second summer signing after securing the deal for Sead Kolasinac from Schalke 04 on a free transfer.
The report suggests Arsene Wenger’s long-term target Alexandre Lacazette opens door to Arsenal transfer by lowering Champions League importance.
Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season to miss out in next season Champions League action.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the player in the last few windows but a concrete offer has never materialised from the north London club thus far.
Previous report suggested that the 26-year-old was close to a move to Spain with also Manchester United keen on a move for him.
The Mirror reports United are willing to pay up to £50m ($64.3m) for the player to fend off interest from the Gunners with other reports suggesting Wenger will break the bank in signing Lacazette after seeing a failed £87million bid for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe.
“Is the Champions League a dealbreaker for my choice? No, but it is important,” he said in a live Facebook chat hosted by Eurosport, as quoted by Goal. “In making my choice, I will look at my position [in my next club], if there are not too many players, so I won’t be benched and I will be able to play. The Premier League is interesting. That does not mean I will go, and that does not mean I will refuse to go.”
