Manchester United are set to land Arsenal a major transfer blow this summer as they close in on the signature of Paris Saint-Germain hitman Edinson Cavani.
The Express claims that the Red Devils has emerge as favourites to complete the transfer of the Uruguayan striker at the end of the season.
Although Cavani is tied to a contract with the French giants until 2018, the report however, says United are preparing a mega bid to try to prize him away from the Parc des Princes.
The 28-year-old centre forward who has scored 28 goals in 49 appearances for PSG so far this season is said to have demanded a whooping £5.75million-a-year salary, a fee which United boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly willing to meet.
This report is sure to come as a blow to the Gunners who have been yearning for the clinical finisher at the Emirates.
Arsenal’s interest in Cavani has been well documented, with the Gunners reportedly close to landing him in January when the striker was thought to be unhappy on having to play from the flanks rather than his natural centre forward position.
However, it is left to be seen if United will eventually get Cavani’s signature or if Arsenal will pull a fast one on the Reds Devils.
