Arsenal are yet to approach Borussia Monchengladbach with an official offer for their captain Granit Xhaka, the club has revealed, via London24.
Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal with some reports claiming the Gunners have tabled an initial offer in the region of £24m. It was even reported that Wenger has already reached an agreement with the player’s camp and would offer the player a wage package worth £120,000 a week.
Those reports appear to be false as both the player and club have denied receiving any offer from the Gunners.
Monchengladbach’s Sporting Director Max Eberl insists they haven’t received any contact from Arsenal, he said:
“We have not received any offers for Granit Xhaka.”
The player himself also hit out at the rumours linking him with a move to the Emirates labeling the reports as “nonsense”
He told German express:
“I have seen the rumours. All I can say is it’s nonsense. There have been no negotiations with Arsene Wenger. Nothing has been agreed.
“If someone claims to have seen my father negotiating in London, they should show me the photo! No one from London has been here to negotiate.
“If someone claims otherwise, give me a call! I invite you to dinner. You can write that down for all I care!”
The midfielder is a key figure in the Monchengladbach side and Wenger believes he would add the much needed steel to the Gunners midfield.
