Krystian Bielik’s set his heart on an Arsenal move this month, and there’s nothing to stop it from happening, if it all depended on him.
The 17-year old defensive midfielder has been styled, in some quarters, as “the New Patrick Vieira” and he is desperate to make the move that will see him fulfill that potential to the letter.
Arsenal’s initial bid for him had reportedly been rejected by Legia Warsaw but the youngster is confident of a positive outcome in the end, and his expectation will not be cut off.
“I’ve made a decision (to join Arsenal) and I’m not going to change it” Bielik has said.
For any young and ambitious teenager, an opportunity to move to one of the biggest clubs in the world in one of the most luxurious cities on the planet will be too attractive to let slip, but more to it is the fact that he probably has a foreknowledge of how Wenger plans to help him build a successful career.
“[Arsene] Wenger said what he sees in me, then asked me about my strengths. It turns out that we had a similar opinion.” the youngster said as quoted by the Telegraph.
“He [Wenger] said I would start the training with the first-team, under his guidance, and then it all depends on me. He knows that I have the skills, am determined to win and he wants to sign me as soon as possible to start working with me.”
“I would train with the first-team and play in the junior teams- U18, U19 or U21- and Wenger says that if I am good enough to stay in the first-team, I will remain in it.”
There is the immediate need to bring in strong additions into the team to consolidate on the progress we’ve made over the years to make serious challenge for trophies, and the inevitable need for a defender and a defensive midfielder will still be top priority for most fans. Injuries in the squad have made it more necessary than it ever was with question marks over the long-term fitness of Mattieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta. The 17-year old has been followed by Arsenal scouts at least for four months now and it is understood that his qualities as a defensive midfielder has alerted Wenger as to his ability to take up the mantle that has been gaping for long within the Arsenal team.
With the assurances he appears to already have from Wenger of his plans for him, he is desperate for an agreement to be reached, as he has his sights set on a first team berth at the Emirates.
