Arsenal have confirmed Mathieu Flamini will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month, via Ibtimes UK.
Arsenal submitted the list of players they will be keeping for next season and the French man’s name was absent alongside Mikel Arteta and Tomas Roiscky.
The list is not definite as there could be other departures and new signings but it gives an insight of the players that will be at the club next season should nothing happen between now and the end of the transfer window. It will mark the end of the French man’s second stint at the Emirates having returned to the club for free in 2013 after he left for AC Milan in 2008.
The French man featured prominently for the Gunners last season due to injuries to key players but will not see his contract renewed as Wenger is keen to strengthen his squad considerably this summer meaning there could be no place for the French man next year. Wenger recently admitted the midfielder alongside Arteta and Rosicky will be missed and thanked them for their contributions in recent years.
The player’s next destination isn’t known yet but he has been linked with a move to newly promoted Middlesbrough and has also been tipped to move to the MLS.
