Arsenal have been handed a major boost to land tough tackling midfield star as player’s agent hints at a possible move.
According to The Express, Monaco midfield star Geoffrey Kondogbia could leave the French outfit this summer after his agent confirmed there are several top clubs across Europe interested in his client, but that Kondogbia won’t settle for a place on the bench.
Kondogbia has had a wonderful season at the principality club and has attracted interest from many of Europe’s elite clubs.
In England alone – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs are all reportedly keen on landing the midfielder this summer. But his agent Jonathen Maarek has made it very clear that versatile Frenchman who can play as a defensive midfielder, centre defender and also as a left back is not ready to warm the bench of any big club.
Maarek said: “We have been approached by big clubs, they are big names.
“We will have the clarity to make the right choice. The idea is not to sit on the bench of a great club.”
According to French magazine Le10Sport, a bid of around £25million would be enough to secure Kondogbia’s services next season.
The report of Kondogbia’s availability is sure to come as good news to Wenger and Arsenal fans, which got the opportunity to watch the midfielder in action when Monaco visited the Emirates for the UCL round-of-16 clash, in which the 22-year-old was key to their victory on the day.
Signing Kondogbia won’t be an easy task for the Gunners as several other clubs both in England and outside England would put up a stern fight for the signature of the Frenchman.
