Arsenal remains interested in making a deal to take Raheem Sterling to the Emirates, and the Manchester City ace is open to transfer to London, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Sterling was heavily linked with a player-plus-cash move to the Gunners during the summer transfer window. However, Pep Guardiola was reluctant to let the 22-year-old leave.
The winger has played close to 100 games for City since joining from Liverpool two seasons ago and has enjoyed a prolific start to the new season.
Guardiola feels the attacker can become a massively crucial and influential footballer for his side. However, Arsene Wenger will still try to land Sterling’s services in the winter.
City are believed to be set to sign long-term target Alexis Sanchez in January for around £20million. However, Arsenal will hope to bring the attacker or Monaco’s Thomas Lemar to the club as his replacement.
And the Daily Mail suggest Arsenal have real hope of signing Sterling, who earned 34 international caps, as he is open to returning to London and the opportunity to play more frequently under Wenger.
Talking about Arsenal’s interest in Sterling last week, Guardiola claimed: “When we started to speak with Arsenal in the last days, they wanted to swap with Raz.
“They talked to me, and I said “no chance. Zero chance. Not one per cent chance we will swap Raz because I trust a lot in him”.
“Twenty-two years old, English player, there is a lot of room to improve.”
