Arsenal Plot To Land 26-year old World Cup Star To End Defense Shortage.

According to Daily Mail, the Gunners will make an offer to Espanyol to take one of Mexico’s World Cup stars, Hector Moreno, to the Emirates.

Wenger is in desperate search for defensive support this month as the events of the last six months have shown clearly he cannot rely on just Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny to take the Gunners through the challenge of the entire Premier League season.

An extra centre back is surely needed and with not many top class options available within the short duration of this window, Arsenal will settle for any good options that are available at the moment, and Moreno’s performances especially at the World Cup would seem to justify any potential approach to be made for him.

He is 26, and a good ball playing centre back who held his own against teams like Brazil and Croatia with all the attacking threats they have, though they eventually got done by Arjen Robben’s diving antics. Arsenal have, until now, been linked mostly with locally based defenders in Winston Reid and Virgil van Dijk and even if it appears both could be available, a £6m deal for Moreno with the International experience he has might be good enough to turn Wenger’s ahead to a solution from abroad.

Meanwhile, Moreno’s agent has confirmed that the player was looking to leave the Barcelona-based club as soon as possible after being restricted to just 5 appearances so far since his broken leg injury.

“Moreno wants to leave and we’re looking at other clubs” Eduardo Hernandez said, per the Metro.

Mexico left the World Cup with one of the meanest defenses of the tournament, conceding only once before the 2 – 1 defeat to the Netherlands in the Round of 16, and Moreno was part of that miserly defence.

The transfer window has already gone past half way and Arsenal fans would be anxiously waiting for the arrival of that elusive extra defender and going by the atmosphere (on social media) aroused by the potential signing of Krystian Bielik, who is obviously not the Schneiderlin most have been hoping for, there won’t be many hissing and sighing when talks enter into an advanced stage for Moreno.

If he’s a defender, bring him in!

Mixed blessing for AFC. Wenger would think all is well. Failure to re-enforce this month might boomerang;as usual, its after market that we always experience injuries upsurge. This ‘stubborn Man’ have always learn through the hard way. I pray he proofs me wrong. Up Cazorla, up Coquellin up Gunners.
