Arsenal have penciled down Leeds United goalkeeper Robert Green as a potential summer target, according to reports.
Wenger may need to sign a new goalkeeper this summer as three of his current goalkeepers are being eyed by other clubs.
Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina are both expected to leave the club this summer. The former apparently doesn’t want to return to the Emirates to sit on the bench after a two year loan stint in the Serie A while the latter is tired of acting as back up to Petr Cech and is desperate to get more playing time elsewhere.
This would leave Emi Martinez as the only back up option to Cech but the Argentine is also attracting interest from Valencia.
In order to avoid a goalkeeping crisis, Wenger has begun to draw up a short list of goalkeeper he would target if the need arisis.
According to The Sun via Tribal Football, Green has emerged as a potential taget for Arsenal.
The 37 year old goalkeeper spent many years in the Premier League with Norwich City, West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers and is vastly experienced to play in England’s top flight.
However, I don’t think he will be moving to Arsenal this summer, with Cech already in the twilight of his career, Wenger would not want an even older goalkeeper as back up to the former Czech Republic man. The likeliest scenario is that this is poor journalism by The Sun.
