Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to reignite talks with Celta Vigo about signing star striker Nolito in the summer.
The Gunners temporary shelved negotiations about bringing him to the Emirates having learnt that La Liga Champions Barcelona were already negotiating a fee for the Spaniard. However, the Catalans refusal to meet his release clause has now led to a breakdown in negotiations, as revealed by Celta’s director of football Miguel Torrecilla, the club have reiterated their stance he will only be moving if his release clause is activated.
He said: “Whoever wants Nolito has to pay his release clause now.”
Sport via the Metro reports that Arsenal are set to take advantage by activating the £12.6m release clause in his contract.
Gunners faithful would be hopeful that Wenger unlike Luis Enrique is able to stump up the cash required to bring the versatile forward to the Emirates, the player single handedly masterminded a victory over his former side Barcelona earlier this season. Should the deal happen, he could come back to haunt the Catalans twice this season as he will be eligible to play for the Gunners against Barcelona in the Champions League.
The Spanish forward was in fantastic form for Celta in the first half of the current campaign netting an impressive eight goals and registering five assists to his name in just fifteen appearances.
