Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £10M offer for Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson.
Arsenal’s continued search for a defender has led them to the path of one of Premier League’s upcoming talent.
Arsenal are preparing a £10 million offer to Hull City for their exciting young left-back, Andrew Robertson, according to reports.
The 20 year old Scottish youngster has caught the eye in England after a couple of very revealing performances this season, attracting the praise of quite a good number of persons in the game. Robertson moved to Hull this summer from Dundee United for about £2.85 million and his outings for Steve Bruce’s side in these early parts of the campaign have already got Arsene Wenger pondering over a move for him.
His current manager surely rates him so highly, expressing his astonishment at how quickly the lad has ridden above expectations.
“Andrew has totally and utterly shocked me with his ability to play at the highest level” Bruce said.
“We’ll make sure we keep his feet on the ground because he’s a fantastic talent. He’s a humble lad who just wants to play football and that’s quite refreshing these days.”
Scotland captain, Darren Fletcher, as well as Hull City’s Robert Snodgrass have also applauded Robertson, the latter branding him as “one of the best attacking full-backs” he’d ever seen. This gives the suggestion as to the brilliance of the Glasgow-born defender, as to his ability to join the attack while keeping true to his defensive duties.
Arsenal are not exactly short at left-back though with Nacho Monreal a center-back nowadays, Wenger may already be thinking for the future. He may be on his mind to provide a competitor for Kieran Gibbs who has cemented his place as the undisputed first choice left back. The question of throwing up challenges for every position in the team has been on the lips of most arsenal fans, demanding that the manager have as many personnel as possible in every department so as to bring out the best in every player for every role. In the face of the recurring injury crisis this season, an additional left-back may not be entirely out of place as both Monreal and Gibbs are hardly renowned for going the long haul without occasional halts.
Wenger is sure to meet stiff resistance from Hull in any enquiry concerning Robertson as Brue would want to keep him and get the maximum out of him. In that case, Le Prof may have to turn his attention to Ipswich for reigning Championship Player of the Month, Tyrone Mings.
