Arsenal assistant manager Steve Bould has refused to talk about Jack Wilshere’s contract situation, as the English midfielder’s future at the Emirates looks in serious doubt, as per The Independent.
Jack Wilshere’s contract runs out this summer and so will be a free agent and able to sign for any club he so wishes to for free at the end of the season.
Arsene Wenger said that negotiations over Wilshere’s contract and an extension will start in December, but still, there has been no conclusion.
It is believed that it is because Wenger has offered £90,000 per week to the central midfielder, which is more than a 25% pay cut of his current £125,000 per week contract.
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil has been given a £350,000 per week contract making him Arsenal’s highest paid player in history. Therefore, Wilshere is not happy about his offer.
Steve Bould, who stepped in for Arsene Wenger at the press conference, said (via The Independent):
I’m not here to answer those questions.
I’m sitting in for Arsene to talk about the Stoke game. I’d much prefer you talk about football.
Arsenal are in the Europa League and a race for European qualification for next season. By that time, it looks more unlikely by the day that Wilshere will not be part of his boyhood club.
The England international is set to become a free agent in June and has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester City and Juventus.
