Arsenal have made communication with Shakhtar Donetsk contract rebel Bernard, according to stories in his native Brazil.
After some underwhelming seasons with the Ukrainian giants, he has hit top form this campaign though his current contract ends next summer, making him even more in demand.
He had been linked with a return to his nation with Palmeiras. However, Brazilian website UOL Sport suggests that he would favour to stay in Europe and is drawing lots of interest.
The Premier League now appears like it could be his next team, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all reaching out to the player’s camp according to a man close to Bernard.
Although the trio of English side would prefer to pick Bernard up for nothing next summer, they could be required to move for him in January if battle heats up.
However with only a few months to run on his deal, Shakhtar have set an asking price of just £11.5m – a snip in today’s market.
Bernard has long been linked with the Premier League since moving to Shakhtar in 2013, with former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas trying to bring him to White Hart Lane.
Interest dipped when his form tailed off, and he lost his place in the Brazil team, but he has scored three times in the league this season and grabbed a brace against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
