Arsenal chief scout Luis Boa Morte has revealed who he thinks will be the club’s most crucial summer signing this season.
Wenger spent more than £80m on Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez in the summer transfer window and they have all come in to strengthen our squad.
In an interview with the club official website, Boa Morte says he thinks Mustafi will be the most crucial signing this season considering the impact he has made in the team already.
“I think Shkodran Mustafi will be the most crucial signing this season. He’s a Germany international who has shown he’s a very tough defender, and he can bring something new to the team with his tenacity,” Boa Morte explained, as quoted by HITC Sports.
“We’ve also had a few injuries in that position so that will definitely make him more important. I’m sure all of the signings we’ve made will go on to make a big contribution this season, but at the moment it looks like Shkodran will have the biggest impact because of the injuries we’ve suffered to Mertesacker and Gabriel.”
All three players have had an impressive start to life at the Emirates but Mustafi has taken many by surprise, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the squad and forming a solid partnership with Laurent Koscielny.
Boa Morte must have played a part in the signing of the trio because as chief scout, it is his report that must have convinced Wenger to spend heavily on them and I’m sure he is pleased with his works.
The players have improved our squad considerably and many feel we now have the strongest squad in recent years to challenge for the Premier League title.
