Arsenal Send Chief Scout To Watch Blues Star As Wenger Plot SURPRISE Transfer

Arsenal have been linked with yet another sensational midfielder according to reports.

A report in The Sun suggests that Arsenal are keen on Coventry City starlet James Maddison.

The Gunners are the latest club linked with the teenage midfielder who has been in outstanding form for the Sky Blues this season.

According to the paper, Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley was in attendance on Saturday to watch the 18-year-old with Arsene Wenger reportedly plotting a move.

However Rowley would have left the Banks’s Stadium disappointed with Maddison forced off in the sixth minute with an ankle injury during Coventry City’s 2-1 defeat to Walsall.

Maddison has been in superb form for the Sky Blues this season and is it thought that a number of Premier League scouts have been in attendance in recent games keeping tabs on the youngster.

In January, the Telegraph reported that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool were all tracking the Cov Kid, who has made 23 first-team appearances for his hometown club.

The Sky Blues will be desperate to keep hold of Maddison, who signed a three-and-a-half year professional contract last November keeping him with the club until June 2018.

Manager Tony Mowbray had admitted that the Sky Blues missed Maddison in Saturday’s defeat.

“Anyone could see we didn’t have that same fluency today,” he said.

“Was that because James went off early? Perhaps, because he’s a big part of what we’ve been doing.

“He brings that bit of individuality where he can get the ball between the lines and produce that little bit of magic.”
