Arsenal are in pole position to complete the signing of Luton wonder kid Charlie Patino.
This report is according to the Daily Mail who claims the Gunners are keen on snapping up the 11-year-old ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur who are also credited with an interest for the young talent.
Patino could be set to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal star Jack Wilshere, who made the move from Luton to Arsenal at the age of nine.
The reports also say that Patino would cost £10,000 to capture, and his family has visited the training grounds of potential suitors with their son. Also making it clear that they would take their time in coming to a decision as to where Charlie would be headed in the summer.
Charlie who is a season ticket holder at Luton, has great ability on the ball, trains six hours a week and analyses Spanish football with his favourite team being Barcelona.
Charlie’s father Luton Patino said: “Charlie doesn’t watch the Spanish football, he analyses it. His mind is ticking away, watching the player movements and asking why they made certain decisions. He is very intelligent. He would say his favourite team is Barcelona and he has definitely been influenced as a player by the Spanish style of football.”
“Charlie is only 11 but he gets it and he knows what is happening to him,” added his dad.
“He knows that this is a big opportunity to train with a top club, even though there are no guarantees at the end of it.”
