West Ham are exploring the possibility of signing Theo Walcott for a fee of £25m, according to Standard Sport.
Walcott, missed out of England’s squad traveling to France for the Euro 2016 championships this summer due to his poor performances for Arsenal this season and he is now expected to be offloaded should Wenger strengthen his squad this summer.
Walcott’s future at the Emirates is now under serious doubts as Wenger tries to complete the signing of Jamie Vardy.
According to report, the same agency working on Vardy’s switch to the Emirates is also working on Walcott’s potential exit.
Walcott has always stated his desire to play as a centre forward for Arsenal but the 27 year old found himself struggling to compete with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck for the Centre forward spot this season.
The arrival of Vardy is expected to push him further down the pecking order and Arsenal could now sanction his exit should they sign the Leicester City man.
West Ham are waiting on the wings to sign the forward and could stump up a £25m bid for Walcott’s services.
The Hammers are seriously keen on strengthening their attacking options this summer and Walcott features prominently on their wish list. However, the players huge week salary could scupper a move to the East London side.
Walcott started only 15 Premier League games this season and would be in danger of featuring less should Vardy complete a move to the Emirates.
Should Walcott leave the Emirates this summer, it would mark the end of a 10 year cycle at the Emirates as the 27 year old is currently the longest serving player at Arsenal after joining the club in 2006.
