Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Monaco defender Djibril sidibe, according to reports.

Monaco ended Paris Saint Germain’s reign as French champions this term and majority of their star players who played a crucial part in their triumph have been linked with moves to top European clubs.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar have been linked with Arsenal and Sidibe is now the latest Monaco player to join the list.

According to L’Equipe via Tribal Football, Arsenal are keen on Sidibe and have made contact with Monaco about signing the defender.

Sidibe plays primarily as a right back but equally adapts well on the other side of the defense and that has made him one of Monaco’s most sought after players.

We were interested in signing the 24 year old last summer before he moved to Monaco and it isn’t surprising that we are being linked with him again.

However, I don’t think we’ll be stepping up his chase this summer, Wenger apparently wanted the French man as a left back last summer and with the imminent arrival of Sead Kolasinac, it is unlikely we will renew our interest in his services.

Obviously, the reported Arsenal interest in Sidibe ia to drive up interest in his services as he is keen on a move away from Monaco. A source close to the player revealed this via Tribal Football.

“Even if there is no certainty of playing time, there are clubs that make you think,” the source said.

“One can imagine that if a club puts a large sum on Djibril, it is to make him play.

“Today, he still has a great place in the world hierarchy in his position. The leaders of Monaco say they do not need money, but there are proposals that you can not refuse.”

Tottenham are also interested in the defender and at this stage, I think the defender is likely to join our neighbors.
