Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted assaulting a man outside a nightclub at 2am.

The 24-year-old Arsenal midfielder accepted a police caution last week while battling for a place in England’s final Euro 2016 squad, reports the Mirror.

It means the case against him is now closed and he would be free to travel to France for the tournament if selected.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “A 24-year-old man has been cautioned for an offence of common assault following an incident in central London.

“The incident happened at 02:15hrs on Sunday, 3 April, when officers discovered an altercation in Coventry Street, W1.

“Officers intervened and one man claimed he was assaulted. He did not require hospital treatment.

“A 24-year-old man was interviewed under caution on Wednesday, 20 April.

“Officers spoke to witnesses and analysed CCTV and it was established that 24-year-old man pushed the victim on the shoulder during the incident. He has subsequently accepted a police caution on Tuesday, 24 May.”
