Arsenal star Olivier Giroud has revealed he will not give up until he works his way back into Wenger’s starting xi.

The striker who has found himself on the bench due to the superb from of Alexis Sanchez has revealed he will not give up until he becomes a starter for Arsenal again.

The striker is experiencing his worst start to a season on a personal level since he joined Arsenal but he is keen to bounce back stronger. His woes started when he returned from pre-season late and then suffered a toe injury. Being out for long gave Sanchez the time to impress as a centre forward and the Chilean took the chance perfectly well.

Since Giroud’s return to fitness, he has been made to settle for a place on the bench but he feels he still has a key role to play at Arsenal and expect to stay for a couple of years more.

“I see my future at Arsenal for another two or three years, the date my contract ends,” Giroud told L’Equipe. “I feel good here and I want to play at the highest level for as long as possible. I still feel I’ve got the gas to do it. After, for sure I’d prefer to be playing, but it will be for me to find my place.

“I have not knocked on Arsene’s office. We’ll see, I’m not worried, my time will come. He’s always supported me in the difficult times and I have every confidence he’ll keep doing so. I won’t lie, there have been times I’ve been disappointed and not happy with my situation. But the coach knows that. He’s the one who makes the choices.

“I’ll fight for my place. What’s happening today is the story of my career. It’s endless in football.

“I’m not the kind of player to give up and to demand things. Even if I don’t play all the matches, I’m sure the coach will use me. We’ll take stock at the end of the season.”

Wenger recently spoke of how strong Giroud is mentally and the striker’s desire to stay and fight for his place just goes on to show the extent of his mental strength.

Despite the chances of him displacing Sanchez from the centre forward role very small based on the Chilean’s current form, he is not prepared to give up without a fight.

It just goes on to prove Wenger’s claims that he is a warrior, this is the sort of mentality that is expected from big players and Giroud is proving to be one. Hopefully, he can play a key role for us this season as we aim for the Premier League title.
